Balrampur Chini Mills Limited (BCML) has formally announced the completion of its crushing activities for the 2025-26 sugar season. The company processed a total of 104.30 Lac MT of sugarcane, reflecting a growth compared to the 99.16 Lac MT crushed in the 2024-25 season.
Strategic Diversion and Ethanol Production
The company continued its strategic focus on ethanol production, which impacts net sugar recovery figures. Key highlights regarding diversion include:
- 10.3% of sugarcane was diverted towards syrup-based ethanol production.
- 56.1% was directed through the B-heavy molasses route.
- 33.6% of sugarcane was processed via the C-heavy molasses route.
Production and Efficiency Metrics
The net sugar produced for the season stood at 9.68 Lac MT. The company noted that the impact on sugar recovery due to the diversion of cane towards ethanol was 1.96%, remaining consistent with the previous season’s metrics. Furthermore, the total sugar sacrificed for ethanol production amounted to 2.04 Lac MT for the 2025-26 period, marking an increase from the 1.94 Lac MT sacrificed in the preceding season.
The derived sugar recovery on a gross basis in C-terms was reported at 11.24%, underscoring the company’s focus on maintaining operational performance despite shifts in production priorities.
