Voltas Limited has received a significant legal victory as the Court of Cassation in Qatar dismissed an appeal filed by OHL International, Spain, and Contrack (Cyprus) Limited. This decision upholds the Court of Appeal’s prior order directing the entities to pay outstanding amounts and compensation to the Kentz-Voltas Consortium. Bank guarantees furnished by Voltas have also been cancelled, and the company is pursuing recovery of awarded amounts.
Major Legal Victory in Qatar Confirmed
Voltas Limited announced a crucial update regarding a pending material litigation in Qatar. The company has been informed that the Court of Cassation, Qatar, vide its order dated 30th August, 2026, has dismissed the appeal filed by OHL International, Spain, and Contrack (Cyprus) Limited (collectively referred to as ‘OHL&C’). This dismissal renders the appeal inadmissible.
Previous Ruling Stands
Consequently, the prior order dated 4th May, 2026, issued by the Court of Appeal (Qatar), remains undisturbed. This earlier order had directed OHL&C to pay the Kentz-Voltas Consortium (KVC) the outstanding amounts due under the subcontract, along with compensation. Furthermore, the Court of Appeal had ordered the return of Bank Guarantees, including both advance and performance bank guarantees, to Voltas. The company had previously disclosed details of this matter on 14th August, 2023; 1st October, 2024; 6th February 2025; and 11th May, 2026.
Recovery Efforts Underway
Voltas Limited has already initiated the process for the execution of the order dated 4th May, 2026. The bank guarantees previously furnished by the company have been successfully cancelled. Voltas is actively pursuing the recovery of the amounts awarded through this legal process.
