The acquisition, valued at ₹10.87 crore, is a cash consideration and aims to establish and operate a transmission system. This strategic move by Tata Power is expected to bolster its presence in the power transmission sector by adding approximately 250 km of transmission lines and associated substations.

The Tata Power Company Limited announced the successful acquisition of a 100% equity stake in Ryapte Power Transmission Limited (RPTL), a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established for a significant power transmission project. The acquisition, completed on July 30, 2026, signifies a strategic expansion for Tata Power in the transmission infrastructure segment. The company entered into a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) to secure the stake.
Details of the Acquisition
The transaction involved a cash consideration of ₹10.87 crore. Ryapte Power Transmission Limited was formed on May 21, 2025, with the specific purpose of establishing a transmission system designed for Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis. The project includes the construction of approximately 250 km of transmission lines, encompassing 400 kV D/C lines and 220 kV D/C lines, along with associated substations and underground cables in Karnataka. The project scope also includes establishing 5×500 MVA, 400/220 kV S/s at Ryapte and 3×500 MVA, 400/220kV GIS sub-station at Doddathaggalli.
Future Outlook
The scheduled date for the commercial operation (SCOD) of the transmission system developed by RPTL is set for 30 months from the date of SPV acquisition. This acquisition is in line with Tata Power’s strategy to expand its transmission business and contribute to the robust development of power infrastructure in the country.
