SJVN Limited: Additional Charge of CMD Extended for Bhupender Gupta

SJVN Limited has announced the extension of the additional charge for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) to Shri Bhupender Gupta. This extension, effective from August 01, 2026, will last for a period of three months or until a full-time incumbent is appointed. Shri Gupta, who is also the CMD of NHPC Limited, brings extensive experience in the power sector.

Leadership Continuity at SJVN

SJVN Limited has received formal notification regarding the extension of additional charge for the position of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD). The Ministry of Power, Government of India, has ordered the extension of this responsibility to Shri Bhupender Gupta (DIN: 06940941), who also serves as the CMD of NHPC Limited. This decision is effective from August 01, 2026.

Extended Tenure Details

The additional charge has been extended for a period of three months. This duration will continue until a full-time incumbent is appointed to the post, or until further orders are issued, whichever comes earliest. This extension ensures continued leadership and operational oversight at SJVN during the interim period.

Shri Bhupender Gupta’s Profile

Shri Bhupender Gupta possesses a distinguished career spanning over 34 years in the power sector, with 31 years dedicated to Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs). He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an MBA in Operations Management. His extensive experience covers planning, design, execution, project management, and operations & maintenance (O&M) of large hydro, thermal, and renewable energy projects. His past roles include leadership positions at NHPC Limited, REC Ltd., and projects in Bhutan.

Shri Gupta’s vision for the power sector emphasizes leveraging non-fossil fuel resources, enhancing energy security, and integrating advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), EV integration, cybersecurity, green hydrogen, and energy storage.
