Oswal Pumps Ltd. Secures 63 MW Rooftop Solar Orders Under PM Surya Ghar Yojana

Oswal Pumps Ltd. has achieved a significant milestone by securing orders for 63 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects in Bihar under the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana. These projects, awarded by NBPDCL and SBPDCL, will cover 57,492 installations across Motihari, Saharsa, and Ara circles. The total order value is approximately INR 247 crore, with an estimated long-term revenue potential of INR 257 crore from energy supply.

Landmark Rooftop Solar Orders Secured

Oswal Pumps Limited has announced a significant strategic advancement with the award of 63 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects across Bihar. These projects are being implemented under the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG-MBY), marking a substantial step in the company’s expansion into the distributed rooftop solar segment. This initiative strengthens Oswal Pumps’ presence, complementing its existing portfolio in the PM Kusum scheme.

Project Details and Awarding Entities

The new orders have been awarded by two key entities: North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL). These projects will encompass a total of 57,492 consumer installations spread across the Motihari, Saharsa, and Ara circles in the state of Bihar. The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, procurement, installation, commissioning, and a 10-year operation and maintenance period for each system.

Financial Value and Revenue Potential

The aggregate installation order value is approximately INR 247 crore. Furthermore, the company anticipates a considerable long-term revenue potential of approximately INR 257 crore from energy supply over a 10-year period under the RESCO model. This brings the cumulative revenue opportunity from these projects to over INR 500 crore.

Strategic Importance and Business Model

This development reinforces Oswal Pumps’ strategic diversification towards large-scale residential rooftop solar deployment. The company aims to reduce its reliance on PM Kusum-led demand and enhance its long-term revenue visibility through annuity-style RESCO income streams. Each beneficiary household is expected to receive approximately 15,000 units of solar power over the contract period, significantly reducing dependence on grid supply and offering sustained energy cost savings.

Project Execution and Timeline

The projects will be executed utilizing the CAPEX plus RESCO model. All installations are scheduled to be commissioned within nine months from the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) execution. This end-to-end scope includes all phases from design to long-term maintenance.

Management Commentary

Mr. Vivek Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Oswal Pumps Limited, commented, “This award represents a pivotal milestone for Oswal Pumps as we scale our participation in the PM Surya Ghar programme and strengthen our position in the distributed solar ecosystem. It not only underscores our execution capabilities but also marks a strategic shift towards diversifying revenue streams beyond PM Kusum. We remain committed to delivering high-quality installations and supporting India’s transition toward clean, decentralised energy.”
