Oswal Pumps Limited has announced a strategic achievement with the award of 63 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects in Bihar. These projects fall under the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion into the distributed rooftop solar segment. This initiative strengthens its presence beyond its established PM Kusum portfolio.
Project Details and Value
The orders were awarded by North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL). These projects will cover 57,492 consumer installations across the Motihari, Saharsa, and Ara circles in Bihar. The aggregate installation order value is approximately INR 247 crore. Additionally, there is an estimated long-term revenue potential of INR 257 crore from energy supply over a 10-year tenure, resulting in a cumulative revenue opportunity exceeding INR 500 crore.
Strategic Diversification and Model
This development reinforces Oswal Pumps’ strategic diversification towards large-scale residential rooftop solar deployment. The projects aim to reduce reliance on PM Kusum-led demand and enhance the company’s long-term revenue visibility through annuity-style RESCO income streams. Under the program, each beneficiary household is expected to receive approximately 15,000 units of solar power over the contract period, contributing to lower energy costs and reduced dependence on the grid.
Execution and Scope
The projects will be executed under the CAPEX plus RESCO model. The scope includes end-to-end services such as design, engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, financing, and a 10-year operations and maintenance period. All installations are expected to be commissioned within nine months from the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) execution.
