HUDCO: Government Shareholding Shift Between Ministries

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) has announced a transfer of shares held in its demat account from the Ministry of Rural Development to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. This internal government reallocation ensures the total shareholding of the Government of India remains at a stable 75%. The administrative oversight for HUDCO, a Government of India Enterprise, will continue with these ministries.

HUDCO Announces Shareholding Reallocation

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), a Government of India Enterprise, has informed stakeholders about a significant internal shareholding adjustment. The company has received an Office Memorandum dated 1st September, 2026, from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

The memorandum conveys the decision to execute the transfer of shares currently held under the demat account of the Ministry of Rural Development to the demat account of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. This reallocation is an internal restructuring within the Government of India and will not alter the overall shareholding percentage.

Stable Government Ownership

Following the transfer, the Government of India’s shareholding in HUDCO will remain unchanged at its existing level of 75%. HUDCO is a Government Company with 75% shareholding held by the President of India, acting through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (54.27%) and the Ministry of Rural Development (20.73%).
