HDFC Life Announces Strong Financial Results and Capital Infusion

HDFC Life Insurance has released its audited financial results for the year ended March 31, 2026, reporting a robust net profit of ₹1,909.99 crore on a consolidated basis. The company has recommended a final dividend of ₹2.10 per equity share. Additionally, the Board approved a ₹1,000 crore preferential share issuance to HDFC Bank and confirmed the re-appointment of Mr. Niraj Shah as Executive Director and CFO for another five-year term.

Financial Performance Overview

For the financial year 2025-26, HDFC Life delivered steady growth, with consolidated net profit reaching ₹1,909.99 crore. The company’s total premium income for the year stood at ₹77,760.49 crore. The Board of Directors has recommended a final dividend of ₹2.10 per equity share (face value of ₹10), subject to approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for July 16, 2026. The record date for dividend entitlement is set for June 19, 2026, with payouts expected on or after July 20, 2026.

Strategic Capital Infusion

In a significant move to strengthen its capital base, the Board has approved the issuance of 14,523,906 equity shares to HDFC Bank Limited on a preferential basis. This issuance, priced at ₹688.52 per share, will aggregate to approximately ₹1,000 crore, further consolidating the relationship between the insurer and its promoter.

Leadership Re-appointment

The company has announced the re-appointment of Mr. Niraj Shah as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer. His new term will span five years, effective from April 26, 2026. Mr. Shah, a Chartered Accountant, has been instrumental in overseeing the company’s financial management, product development, and operational strategy since joining in 2019.

Embedded Value Highlights

The Indian Embedded Value (IEV) for the company as of March 31, 2026, was reported at ₹62,139 crore. The Value of One Year’s New Business (VoNB) for the year was ₹4,034 crore, reflecting a new business margin of 24.2%, underscoring the company’s focus on sustainable long-term growth.
