Bharat Electronics Secures ₹1,251 Crore Order for Advanced Defense Systems

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has announced a significant contract win valued at ₹1,251 crore from the Indian Ministry of Defence. The contract involves the supply of Ground Based Mobile ELINT Systems (GBMES) to the Indian Army. This project underscores BEL’s commitment to indigenous manufacturing, as the state-of-the-art system was designed and developed by DLRL Hyderabad, further strengthening the nation’s defense technology and situational awareness capabilities.

Strategic Defense Partnership

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, has officially secured a prestigious order from the Ministry of Defence. Valued at ₹1,251 crore (excluding taxes), this contract is for the supply of the Ground Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES) to the Indian Army. The agreement was confirmed in an announcement dated May 5, 2026, marking another milestone for the company in bolstering national defense infrastructure.

Advancing Indigenous Technology

The GBMES is a totally indigenous, state-of-the-art system. It was meticulously designed and developed by DLRL Hyderabad and will be manufactured at BEL’s facilities. The system is a sophisticated networked intelligence tool capable of detecting, classifying, and locating all types of radars. Additionally, it provides critical capabilities in intercepting and analyzing communication signals, which significantly enhances the country’s situational awareness and Air Defence capabilities.
