Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has announced the successful commercial operationalization of a 1,990 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at Khavda, Gujarat. Additionally, a 50 MW solar energy project in the same location has also become operational. These new additions bring AGEL’s total operational renewable generation capacity to 19,785.8 MW and BESS capacity to 3,366 MWh. The plants were commissioned on May 25, 2026, and operational from May 26, 2026.
AGEL Expands Renewable Capacity
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has achieved a significant milestone with the commercial operationalization of substantial new energy projects. The company has successfully brought online an aggregate of 1,990 MWh in Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects located in Khavda, Gujarat. Alongside this, a 50 MW solar energy project in Khavda has also commenced operations.
Key Project Details
The BESS projects are detailed in Annexure A and comprise multiple special purpose vehicles (SPVs), including Adani Renewable Energy Thirty Six Limited (642 MWh), Adani Renewable Energy Thirty Seven Limited (1,042 MWh), and Adani Renewable Energy Forty Three Limited (306 MWh). The 50 MW solar project, listed in Annexure B, is attributed to Adani Green Energy Twenty Four Limited.
Increased Operational Capacity
With the commissioning of these new assets, AGEL’s total operational renewable generation capacity now stands at an impressive 19,785.8 MW. Furthermore, the company’s operational BESS capacity has increased to a total of 3,366 MWh. The decision to commercially operationalize these plants was made at 9:30 p.m. on May 25, 2026, with operations commencing on May 26, 2026.
