Record-Breaking Deployment
The Khavda BESS project is notable not only for its scale but also for its rapid execution. The deployment was completed within an impressive 10 months from the commencement of on-site construction, marking it as one of the fastest utility-scale battery storage projects ever undertaken worldwide. This includes 1.37 GWh of capacity that was commissioned in March 2026, bringing AGEL’s total operational BESS capacity at Khavda to 3.37 GWh.
Strengthening Grid Reliability and Clean Power Access
The commissioning of this large-scale BESS is a pivotal step towards enhancing grid reliability and ensuring a stable supply of peak-hour electricity. It enables renewable energy sources to deliver dependable, round-the-clock power, a critical factor in India’s clean energy transition.
