Aarti Drugs: Gujarat Plant Operations Resume After GPCB Revokes Closure Order

Aarti Drugs Limited has received a significant update from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB). Following an application by the company, the GPCB has issued a revocation order, lifting the prior closure direction for its plant located in Sayakha, Bharuch district. This allows the company to resume its Amines manufacturing operations. As a condition, the GPCB has levied an interim Environmental Damage Compensation (EDC) of ₹10,20,000.

Operations Resume at Sayakha Plant

Aarti Drugs Limited announced today that the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has officially revoked the closure direction issued for its manufacturing plant in Sayakha, Bharuch district, Gujarat. This decision follows an application submitted by the company seeking the lifting of the closure order. The revocation permits Aarti Drugs to resume its Amines manufacturing operations at the facility, located at Plot No. DP-94 to DP-96, Saykha Industrial Estate.

Background and Conditions

The closure direction was initially issued on June 20, 2026, subsequent to an inspection that identified certain non-compliances with the Water Act and Consolidated Consents and Authorization (CCA) conditions. The GPCB’s directive mandated the closure of operations effective 15 days from the issuance of that letter.

In conjunction with the revocation order, the GPCB has imposed an interim Environmental Damage Compensation (EDC) of ₹10,20,000. This compensation is levied under the ‘Polluter Pays’ Principle, adhering to guidelines set by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), as an interim measure.

The company has confirmed that the interim Environmental Damage Compensation of ₹10,20,000 has already been deposited with the GPCB. Aarti Drugs has also stated that it is implementing appropriate corrective and preventive measures to ensure compliance and avoid future lapses.

Financial and Operational Impact

According to the company’s disclosure, there is no anticipated impact on financial, operational, or other activities of the listed entity as a result of this development, beyond the deposited compensation amount. The revocation signifies a positive turn, allowing for the resumption of normal business operations at the Sayakha plant.
