Zee Entertainment: SAT Grants One-Day Extension for Warrant Issuance

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited has received a one-day extension from the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) for the issuance of warrants. This follows a previous order that had granted partial stay. The extension, granted on August 27, 2026, is for the issuance of 2,40,59,266 warrants. The SAT noted that the subscription amount was deposited on time, with the delay attributed to a technicality in account crediting.

SAT Grants Extension for Warrant Issuance

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited announced today that the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) has granted a one-working-day extension for the issuance of warrants. This decision, dated August 27, 2026, follows a previous communication on August 14, 2026, regarding an interim relief that provided a partial stay on a SEBI order.

Details of the Extension

The SAT’s order pertains to the issuance of warrants to a promoter group entity. Originally, the company was permitted to issue these warrants within one week of the SAT’s order dated August 14, 2026. Out of a total of 24,94,85,563 warrants, 20,94,47,805 had been subscribed within the stipulated time. The current extension is specifically for the issuance of the remaining 2,40,59,266 warrants.

Tribunal’s Rationale

The Tribunal observed that the extension sought was primarily a technicality. While the amount for subscription was deposited in time, its credit to the account occurred on the following day, leading to a minor delay in the issuance of warrants. Considering the circumstances, the SAT deemed the extension of one working day for the issuance of these 2,40,59,266 warrants to be just and appropriate. Consequently, Miscellaneous Application Nos. 816 and 817 of 2026 were disposed of.
