Order 1: Guwahati Jurisdiction

An order has been passed by the Joint Commissioner, Guwahati, CBIC, confirming a penalty of ₹44,78,68,357, along with applicable demand and interest. This order pertains to alleged excess input tax credit claims for the period from April 2018 to March 2021.

Order 2: Mumbai Jurisdiction

Another order has been passed by the Additional Commissioner, GST & Central Excise, Mumbai East Commissionerate, confirming a penalty of ₹3,79,44,450 along with demand and interest as applicable. The allegation is related to wrongly availed input tax credit without actual receipts of goods or services and wrongly passed input tax credit without any supply of goods or services for FY 2018-19 to FY 2023-24.

Company Response

Vodafone Idea disputes the orders and is taking steps for rectification/reversal of the same. The maximum financial impact is to the extent of the tax demand, interest, and penalty levied.
