Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced its financial results for the first quarter of FY27, showcasing robust growth in key financial metrics. The company’s Revenue from Operations increased by 6.0% year-on-year to ₹11,689 crore. This growth is attributed to a continued increase in Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) and data usage. Vi also reported a significant 9.1% year-on-year growth in EBITDA, reaching ₹5,034 crore for the quarter.
Subscriber Growth and ARPU Increase
The company’s customer base saw a positive net addition, standing at 193.1 million at the end of Q1 FY27, compared to 192.8 million in Q4 FY26. This marks the first quarter of positive net subscriber addition since the merger. Customer ARPU (excluding M2M) rose to ₹195 from ₹177 in Q1 FY26, representing a 10.2% year-on-year increase, which is noted as the highest in the industry. The 4G/5G subscriber base also expanded to 130.1 million.
Network Expansion and Strategic Initiatives
Vodafone Idea is actively expanding its 5G network, now available in over 200 cities and towns. The company is also focusing on accelerating its high-speed broadband network by adding new 4G sites and upgrading existing infrastructure. Strategic partnerships, including one with Spotify to offer premium music streaming and the launch of ‘Vi edu+’ for students, are aimed at enhancing customer experience. The company also secured a credit rating of Crisil A-/(Stable) and an upgrade to ICRA A-/(Stable).
