Vodafone Idea: Q1 FY27 Revenue Up 6%, Net Additions Turn Positive

Vodafone Idea reported a positive operational and financial performance for the first quarter of FY27. Revenue grew 6.0% YoY to Rs. 11,689 Crore, with Cash EBITDA up 13.5%. The company achieved its first quarter of positive net subscriber additions since its merger, driven by postpaid and M2M segments, and expanded 5G services to over 200 cities.

Vodafone Idea Reports Strong Q1 FY27 Performance

Vodafone Idea has announced its financial results for the first quarter ending June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), highlighting a robust operational and financial performance. The company achieved its first quarter of positive net subscriber additions since its merger, a significant milestone reflecting its strategic initiatives.

Key Financial Highlights

  • Revenue Growth: Total revenue for the quarter stood at Rs. 11,689 Crore, marking a 6.0% Year-on-Year (YoY) increase.
  • Cash EBITDA: Cash EBITDA demonstrated strong double-digit growth, increasing by 13.5% to reach Rs. 2,475 Crore.
  • ARPU Improvement: Customer Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) grew by 10.2% YoY to Rs. 195, the highest in the industry, with a sequential improvement of 2.6%.

Subscriber Growth and Network Expansion

The company reported an increase in its subscriber base to 193.1 million customers. The net subscriber addition trajectory, which turned positive in February, continued in this quarter. Churn reduced by 24 basis points YoY. Vodafone Idea also expanded its pan-India 4G coverage to 87.0% by adding nearly 3,000 new unique broadband towers and over 15,600 new sites in the last twelve months. Furthermore, 5G services have been rolled out in over 200 cities across all 17 circles where the company holds 5G spectrum.

Funding and Capex

Vodafone Idea is progressing with its capex plan of Rs. 45,000 Crore over the next three years. The company has raised its first tranche of funding amounting to Rs. 6,400 Crore, which includes partial proceeds from warrants and debt. Orders worth Rs. 9,000 Crore for capex have been placed, with supplies and execution commencing. The company has also secured credit ratings from CRISIL (A-/Stable) and ICRA (A- (Stable)) for its long-term bank facilities.

Strategic Initiatives and Product Offerings

Key strategic initiatives include enhanced product offerings such as partnerships with Spotify for premium music streaming and the launch of ‘Vi Edu+’ for prepaid subscribers combining connectivity with digital learning. The company also introduced ‘Vi Instadata’ for emergency data needs and strengthened its international roaming portfolio. Vodafone Idea continues to focus on its enterprise business, offering digital solutions and partnering with entities like the Andhra Pradesh MSME Development Corporation.
