Unimech Aerospace and Manufacturing Limited has signed definitive agreements to acquire Hobel Bellows, a specialist manufacturer of metallic bellows and precision-engineered assemblies. This strategic move aims to expand Unimech’s capabilities into higher-value engineered assemblies and sub-systems. Hobel Bellows, which reported provisional revenues of ₹123.7 crore for the year ended March 31, 2026, brings a high-margin, export-oriented business to the company’s portfolio, significantly enhancing its manufacturing footprint and technological expertise.
Expanding Engineering Capabilities
The acquisition of Hobel Bellows represents a significant milestone in Unimech’s growth strategy. By integrating specialized manufacturing technologies—including hydroforming, elastomer forming, and advanced TIG/robotic welding—Unimech is set to broaden its solutions offering. The company will now gain access to a 180,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in the Duvvada SEZ, Visakhapatnam, which comes equipped with advanced validation and testing infrastructure like Carl Zeiss CMM-based inspection.
Strategic Rationale and Market Synergy
This transaction is designed to create a more integrated engineering platform. With 90% of Hobel Bellows’ business currently export-oriented, the deal strengthens Unimech’s global footprint across key markets such as the UK, USA, Singapore, and China. The acquisition allows Unimech to move beyond precision-machined parts into higher-value subsystems, enabling increased wallet share with existing OEM customers across sectors like aerospace, locomotive, and power transmission.
Financial Impact and Future Growth
Anil Puthan, Chairman & Managing Director of Unimech, highlighted that the acquisition is a disciplined capital allocation decision that enhances both technological depth and profitability. The transaction is expected to unlock synergies through cross-selling opportunities, improved operational efficiencies, and a transition toward more complex, high-entry-barrier industrial solutions. The integration of Hobel’s established OEM relationships and export model is a core pillar in Unimech’s long-term vision to build a globally competitive precision engineering platform.
