UltraTech Cement has achieved a major strategic milestone by commissioning 8.7 mtpa of new cement capacity. This expansion across three key Indian states brings the company’s total domestic grey cement manufacturing capacity to 200.1 mtpa. With additional overseas operations, UltraTech’s total global capacity now stands at 205.5 mtpa, further cementing its position as the world’s largest cement company by sales volume outside of China.
Expansion Details
On April 17, 2026, UltraTech Cement announced the successful commissioning of three new grinding units, significantly strengthening its production footprint. The new capacity is distributed across the following locations:
- Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh: 2.7 mtpa capacity
- Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: 3.0 mtpa capacity
- Patratu, Jharkhand: 3.0 mtpa capacity
Strengthening Global Leadership
This substantial addition of 8.7 mtpa marks a critical step in the company’s growth strategy. Following this commissioning, UltraTech’s domestic grey cement capacity has reached the 200.1 mtpa milestone. When including its 5.4 mtpa overseas capacity, the company now operates a total global capacity of 205.5 mtpa.
By achieving these figures, UltraTech maintains its standing as the world’s largest cement manufacturer by sales volume. It remains the largest producer in a single country globally, excluding China, underscoring its pivotal role in supporting infrastructure development across India and beyond.
