Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 300 MW solar project in Koppal, Karnataka. This project, developed by TP Saurya, a subsidiary of TPREL, is expected to generate 810 MUs of renewable energy annually and mitigate over 103,820 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The project utilizes advanced solar trackers and bifacial modules, enhancing energy generation efficiency and contributing to India’s clean energy ambitions. This marks another milestone for TPREL, increasing its total renewable utility capacity to 12 GW.
Tata Power Commissions 300 MW Solar Project in Karnataka
November 5, 2026 — Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, announced the commissioning of its 300 MW solar project located in Koppal, Karnataka. The project was developed by TP Saurya, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TPREL, and signifies a key achievement in the company’s expansion of large-scale renewable energy assets across India.
Project Details and Environmental Impact
The newly commissioned solar project is projected to deliver approximately 810 MUs of renewable energy each year. This substantial output is expected to aid in mitigating an estimated 103,820 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, thereby reinforcing India’s transition towards a more sustainable energy future. A distinguishing feature of the project is the deployment of Solar Trackers, which allow the solar modules to follow the sun’s movement throughout the day, optimizing energy generation. The project also incorporates TP580HG10NB bifacial modules, which, in conjunction with the tracking technology, enhance site utilization and overall power generation efficiency.
Workforce Diversity and Inclusion
The Koppal project also highlights TPREL’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. Approximately 16 women professionals were part of the project’s workforce, accounting for nearly 40% of the team. These women held critical roles, including Site Managers and Site Engineers, contributing significantly to the project’s technical execution, engineering, and overall management, underscoring the growing role of women in India’s renewable energy sector.
Expanding Renewable Capacity
With the addition of this 300 MW project, TPREL’s total operational renewable utility capacity has now reached 12 GW. Of this total, approximately 7.2 GW is currently operational, comprising 5.8 GW of solar capacity and 1.3 GW of wind capacity. Additionally, close to 4.9 GW of renewable capacity is in various stages of development and implementation, reflecting TPREL’s robust growth pipeline.
