Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) unveiled its ambitious growth strategy, ‘Lakshya,’ aiming to achieve ₹20,000 crore in revenue by FY29, a more than 4x increase from FY26. The plan also targets an EBITDA margin of over 27% by FY29. This initiative focuses on expanding its role in digital infrastructure, driven by telecom and AI data center growth, leveraging its integrated capabilities and technological differentiation.

Sterlite Technologies Unveils ‘Lakshya’ Growth Strategy

Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) has announced a significant growth ambition, ‘Lakshya,’ targeting a revenue of ₹20,000 crore by the financial year 2029. This represents a substantial expansion from its projected ₹4,750 crore revenue in FY26. The company aims to become one of the largest global players in digital connectivity.

Financial Projections and Profitability Goals

In parallel with revenue growth, STL is focused on a significant transformation in its profitability. The company aims to increase its EBITDA margin from 13.2% in FY26 to over 27% by FY29, an improvement of more than 1380 basis points. These targets are underpinned by continued growth in the core optical business, increased participation in higher value integrated connectivity solutions, and operating leverage from scaled manufacturing.

Key Growth Drivers for Lakshya

The ‘Lakshya’ strategy is driven by four key factors:

  • Expanding Optical TAM: Optical connectivity is becoming a denser, mission-critical layer across data centers, racks, and campuses, while bandwidth and compute density drive a shift from copper to optical.
  • Customer Co-development: STL is increasingly partnering with customers early in the design cycle to engineer solutions for evolving AI infrastructure needs.
  • Integrated Connectivity Solutions: The company is moving towards offering a complete integrated connectivity stack, from fiber to connectors and assembly systems.
  • Technology-led Differentiation: STL is investing in new technologies like hollow-core fiber and co-packaged optics to meet future requirements.

Strategic Investments and Innovation

To support this growth, STL plans to invest approximately ₹1,000 crore annually over the next three financial years. This investment will focus on expanding preform, fiber, and cable capacities by 50%, as well as targeted investments in downstream connectivity solutions, including a new Greenfield Optical Connectivity Facility in India. The company is also committing approximately 2% of its average annual revenue to innovation.

Market Opportunity in India and Globally

STL sees a significant opportunity in India’s burgeoning data center market, with capacity expected to grow substantially by 2030. The company highlights its end-to-end manufacturing capabilities and existing relationships with hyperscalers as key advantages. Globally, STL holds approximately 9% of the optical fiber market outside China.

Foundational Strength and Future Outlook

The company emphasizes its foundational strength, including its global footprint, over 785 patents, and 10 advanced manufacturing facilities. STL is positioning itself to power the next generation of AI and enable generational transformation in digital infrastructure, proud to be an Indian multinational company.
