SJVN Announces Key Milestone at Buxar Thermal Project

SJVN Limited has achieved a significant operational milestone with the successful completion of a 72-hour trial run for Unit-2 of its 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project located in Bihar. This successful trial run, which concluded on August 31, 2026, marks the unit’s readiness for commencement of Commercial Operation.

Project Details and Impact

The Buxar Thermal Power Project is being implemented by SJVN Thermal Private Limited (STPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN. The project is based on advanced supercritical technology, designed to ensure enhanced efficiency and minimize environmental impact. It comprises two units, each with a capacity of 660 MW, and is equipped with modern emission control systems. Upon full commissioning, the project is anticipated to generate approximately 9,828.72 million units of electricity annually, playing a crucial role in meeting the nation’s growing power requirements.
