SJVN Limited has announced the appointment of Shri Suprakash Adhikari as the new Director (Projects), effective May 12, 2026. Holding the current position of Director (Technical) at NHPC Limited, Mr. Adhikari brings over 36 years of extensive experience in hydropower development and project management. He succeeds Shri Sushil Sharma, whose tenure concluded on July 31, 2025. This leadership change aligns with the company’s commitment to advancing India’s clean energy and Net Zero ambitions.

Leadership Transition

SJVN Limited has officially confirmed the appointment of Shri Suprakash Adhikari to the post of Director (Projects) on an additional charge basis. The transition follows an order from the Ministry of Power dated May 12, 2026. Mr. Adhikari, who currently serves as the Director (Technical) for NHPC Limited, assumed his new responsibilities at SJVN effective May 12, 2026. This appointment is set for a period of one year, or until a regular incumbent is appointed, whichever is earlier.

Professional Background and Expertise

With a career spanning over 36 years, Shri Adhikari is a seasoned professional in the hydro-power sector. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology, Shibpur. Throughout his tenure at NHPC, he has been instrumental in the commissioning of several high-capacity projects, including the 800 MW Parbati II Hydro Electric Project and the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower HE Project, as well as significant solar initiatives in Bikaner.

Strategic Focus

SJVN Limited aims to leverage Mr. Adhikari’s deep technical expertise in both project implementation and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) to bolster its ongoing energy initiatives. His previous roles include heading key divisions at NHPC and managing complex engineering challenges, such as the restoration of the Sewa-II Power Station’s Head Race Tunnel. The company remains focused on contributing to the Government of India’s broader clean energy and Net Zero goals under this new leadership structure.
