SJVN Limited is pleased to announce a significant achievement in its expansion of power generation capacity. The company, through its wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Thermal Private Limited, has scheduled the Commercial Operation of Unit-II (660 MW) of its Buxar Thermal Power Project for September 12, 2026, at 00:00 HRS. This marks a crucial step forward in strengthening the nation’s energy infrastructure.

Project Details and Impact

The 1,320 MW (2X660 MW) Buxar Thermal Power Project, located at Chausa in District Buxar, Bihar, is being implemented with advanced, state-of-the-art supercritical technology. This technology ensures higher operational efficiency and a minimized environmental footprint. Upon full operation, the project is projected to generate 9,828.72 Million Units of electricity annually. A substantial 85% of this power has been allocated to Bihar under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement, promising to significantly enhance power availability in the state and the Eastern Region, thereby reducing peak-hour shortages and bolstering energy security.
