Sharika Enterprises strengthens smart grid position with RDSS projects

Sharika Enterprises Limited is enhancing its presence in India’s power distribution sector by participating in projects under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The company is involved in supplying Fault Passage Indicators, 11 kV sectionalizers, and SCADA-ADMS solutions. These initiatives, coupled with the development of a new manufacturing facility, underscore Sharika’s commitment to advancing smart grid technologies and indigenous manufacturing.

Sharika Enterprises Fortifies Smart Grid Foothold

Sharika Enterprises Limited (SEL) is significantly expanding its footprint in India’s power distribution modernization landscape through its active participation in key projects under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The company’s involvement spans critical areas such as communicable Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs), 11 kV sectionalizers, and SCADA-ADMS solutions, bolstering its capabilities in smart grid and distribution automation.

Key Project Engagements and Capabilities

Sharika’s RDSS-related efforts highlight its expertise across three crucial aspects of distribution network transformation:

1. Intelligent Fault Detection – Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

SEL is executing an order to supply 998 communicable Overhead Fault Passage Indicators (FPIs) to Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) in Varanasi. This deployment aims to expedite fault identification and localization, enhance network visibility, and facilitate quicker restoration of electricity supply.

2. Feeder Automation – Dakshin Gujarat

The company is collaborating with DGVCL on its feeder automation initiative, involving the supply of 11 kV sectionalizers. These systems are designed to support automated fault isolation and restoration, thereby improving distribution network reliability and operational efficiency.

3. SCADA + Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) – Uttarakhand

Sharika has secured a significant contract for UPCL’s Ganga Corridor power distribution modernization project. This project covers Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh, and includes a comprehensive suite of smart distribution solutions such as SCADA-ADMS, FPIs, reclosers, and numerous Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) for substation and RMU automation, alongside distribution transformer monitoring.

Strategic Focus on Growth and ‘Make in India’

These engagements reinforce Sharika’s comprehensive capabilities, from field-level automation to advanced digital distribution platforms. The company is strategically positioned to capitalize on India’s ongoing distribution sector reforms, with an estimated 4,000 towns identified as opportunity landscapes for smart grid development. Sharika aims to leverage its expertise in feeder automation, sectionalizers, FPIs, and SCADA-ADMS to secure future growth in this evolving market.

YEIDA Manufacturing Facility Advancement

Further supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Sharika Enterprises Limited is developing a manufacturing facility in the YEIDA region. This facility will focus on producing control panels and power distribution automation products, including FPIs, autoreclosers, and sectionalizers. Alongside manufacturing, SEL is enhancing its digital capabilities through an in-house software development team, collaborating with Spin Engenharia, Brazil, on ADMS modules.

Building India’s Future Power Infrastructure

As distribution utilities increasingly prioritize reliability, automation, and digital transformation, Sharika Enterprises continues to strengthen its position in the power sector’s evolving technology landscape. The company’s project involvements in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand, combined with its manufacturing expansion, demonstrate a clear strategy of integrating technology-led solutions with indigenous manufacturing ambitions to build reliable, efficient, and future-ready power infrastructure for India.
