Meta’s Expansion and India’s AI Ambitions

This partnership marks Meta’s first built-to-suit data centre capacity in India, representing a crucial milestone in its global infrastructure expansion. Meta will lease capacity from the facility, underscoring its commitment to leveraging India’s growing role in the worldwide digital and AI ecosystem. Sustainability and Strategic Location

The chosen location in Gujarat offers strategic advantages, including access to renewable energy, water availability, and proximity to India’s western submarine cable landing stations. The data centre will be powered by renewable energy and utilize desalinated seawater for cooling, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability from both RIL and Meta. This initiative aligns with the Government of India’s vision to designate data centres as strategic national infrastructure.
