Premier Energies Limited and RCT India have signed a term sheet to form a joint venture (JV) for establishing a 12 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Telangana. The JV, to be operated under Premier Battery Technologies Pvt. Ltd., marks Premier Energies’ expansion beyond solar manufacturing into the clean-energy sector. The facility aims to cater to growing demand in India and international markets, with an export-oriented focus.
Strategic Joint Venture for BESS Manufacturing
Premier Energies Limited, a leading integrated solar manufacturer, and RCT India, part of Germany’s RCT Group, have entered into a binding term sheet to establish a significant joint venture (JV). This JV will focus on setting up a 12 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Telangana, India. This strategic move signifies Premier Energies’ commitment to expanding its clean-energy portfolio beyond its established solar manufacturing operations.
Facility Details and Market Focus
The proposed facility will be developed through Premier Energies’ subsidiary, Premier Battery Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The initial phase is planned for a capacity of 6 GWh, with the overall capacity reaching 12 GWh. The manufacturing plant is designed to meet the rapidly increasing demand for energy storage solutions across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications, both within India and in international markets. The facility is envisioned as an export-oriented platform, leveraging Premier Energies’ manufacturing expertise and RCT’s global energy-sector experience.
Addressing India’s Energy Needs
This partnership aims to contribute to the development of a robust domestic BESS manufacturing ecosystem in India. It will also serve as an export platform for the country’s growing energy-storage industry. The JV’s objective is to develop globally competitive BESS solutions by combining the strengths of both companies, including RCT’s extensive experience in setting up BESS projects worldwide and Premier Energies’ manufacturing capabilities.
