POWERGRID Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone Commissioned in Andhra Pradesh

POWERGRID has announced the complete commissioning of its project, “Transmission scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Ananthpuram (Ananthapur) (2500 MW) and Kurnool (1000 MW), Andhra Pradesh”. The project’s Commercial Operation Date (DOCO) was confirmed on 24th June, 2026, following the receipt of the notification on 26th June, 2026. This significant development marks a key milestone in enhancing solar energy infrastructure in the region.

POWERGRID Corporation of India Limited is pleased to announce the successful and complete commissioning of its critical infrastructure project, “Transmission scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Ananthpuram (Ananthapur) (2500 MW) and Kurnool (1000 MW), Andhra Pradesh”. This announcement was made on 27th June, 2026, reflecting the culmination of extensive development and construction efforts.

Key Operational Dates

The project officially achieved its Commercial Operation Date (DOCO) on 24th June, 2026. The necessary notification for this operational commencement was received via email on 26th June, 2026, confirming the project’s readiness and integration into the national grid. This marks a significant step forward in bolstering renewable energy infrastructure.

Project History and Amalgamation

The project was initially undertaken by POWERGRID Ananthpuram Kurnool Transmission Limited, which was a wholly-owned subsidiary of POWERGRID. In a strategic move to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, this subsidiary was amalgamated with POWERGRID Khawda II-C Transmission Limited. This amalgamation was effective from 01st March 2026, as per the order dated 27th January, 2026, issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).
