POWERGRID Board Approves SCADA Upgrade, Term Loan, and Key Appointments

POWERGRID’s Board of Directors has approved the upgradation of its SCADA and Associated Systems at an estimated cost of ₹485.04 Crore. The board also sanctioned availing an unsecured term loan of JPY 80 billion. Furthermore, significant leadership changes were announced, with the appointment of Smt. Anjana Luthra as Company Secretary & Compliance Officer and Shri Venkata S V as the new Chief Financial Officer, effective July 1st, 2026.

Major Board Decisions by POWERGRID

In a significant board meeting held on Wednesday, 10th June 2026, POWERGRID announced several key strategic decisions and appointments that will shape its operational and financial future. The meeting, which commenced at 5:15 p.m. IST and concluded at 6:20 p.m. IST, saw the board inter-alia consider and approve critical advancements.

Capital Expenditure and Financing

A substantial capital expenditure has been greenlit for the upgradation of SCADA and Associated Systems of NTAMC/RTAMC. This vital project is estimated to cost approximately ₹485.04 Crore, reflecting POWERGRID’s commitment to enhancing its operational efficiency and system reliability. In line with its financing strategy, the company will also be availing an Unsecured Term Loan Facility amounting to JPY 80 billion from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and other participating financial institutions.

Key Leadership Appointments

The board also formalized critical leadership changes. Effective immediately, Smt. Anjana Luthra, General Manager (Company Secretariat), has been appointed as the Company Secretary & Compliance Officer. Additionally, Shri Venkata S V, Chief General Manager (F&A), has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Company, with his tenure commencing from 01st July 2026. These appointments underscore POWERGRID’s focus on strengthening its governance and financial management capabilities.
