ONGC: Appoints Dr. Archna Thakur as Independent Director

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has announced the appointment of Dr. Archna Thakur as a Non-Official Independent Director. This appointment, approved by the Board of Directors, is effective from 13.08.2026 for a term of three years. Dr. Thakur brings extensive experience in academics, management, and social services to the board, with a Doctorate in International Politics.

In a significant governance development, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has appointed Dr. Archna Thakur as a Non-Official Independent Director. This decision aligns with the company’s commitment to robust corporate governance and effective oversight, as per the requirements of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015. The appointment was formally approved by the Board of Directors.

Appointment Details and Term

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas conveyed its approval for Dr. Archna Thakur’s appointment via a letter dated 12.08.2026. She will serve on the Board of ONGC as an Independent Director for a tenure of three (03) years, commencing from the date of the approval letter, or until further orders are issued, whichever is earlier. The Board officially appointed Dr. Thakur as an Additional Director (Independent Director) with effect from 13.08.2026, continuing until the ensuing Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Company.

Dr. Archna Thakur’s Profile

Dr. Archna Thakur holds a Doctorate in International Politics from Himachal Pradesh University and is a Gold Medalist in her Master’s in Political Science. She possesses over 20 years of experience across various sectors, including academics, management, administration, and social services. Her prior roles include Principal of a Vocational Training Institute, Head of Social Science at an International School, Marketing Director for electronic media, and Consultant with the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Dr. Thakur has also been actively involved with several NGOs, contributing to initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, social awareness, and community development.

It is confirmed that Dr. Archna Thakur is not debarred from holding such an office by any SEBI Order or any other authoritative body.
