Ola Electric: Launches New Energy Storage Portfolio with Shakti Rack and Mahashakti

Ola Electric has unveiled its ‘Shakti’ energy storage portfolio, marking a strategic expansion into residential, commercial, industrial, and grid-scale applications. The launch includes Shakti Gen2 for homes, Shakti Rack for commercial use, and Mahashakti for industrial and grid-scale solutions. This initiative leverages indigenous LFP battery technology and the company’s Gigafactory, aiming to provide reliable and affordable energy storage across India.

Ola Electric Unveils Comprehensive Energy Storage Solutions

Ola Electric has announced a significant expansion of its offerings with the launch of its ‘Shakti’ energy storage portfolio. This new range aims to address energy storage needs from residential applications to utility-scale projects, underscoring the company’s commitment to India’s renewable energy future. The portfolio leverages Ola Electric’s indigenous LFP battery technology and its vertically integrated cell-to-system capabilities.

Product Portfolio Details

The Shakti portfolio introduces three key product lines:

  • Shakti Gen2: Designed for residential use, offering battery backup and intelligent energy management. It comes in 4.6 kWh / 3 kW and 9.2 kWh / 6 kW models, with introductory prices of ₹99,999 and ₹1,74,999 respectively. Reservations are open, with deliveries starting in November 2026.
  • Shakti Rack (AC & DC): Extends storage solutions to commercial and infrastructure applications. The AC Rack integrates battery and inverter, while the DC Rack interfaces with DC infrastructure. These are modular and scheduled for availability in March 2027.
  • Mahashakti (Rack and Container): Targets industrial and grid-scale storage. Mahashakti Rack is for large commercial and industrial loads, while the Mahashakti container is designed for utility-scale projects, capable of scaling up to GWh capacities. These are expected in March 2027.

Strategic Vision and Market Opportunity

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, stated, “The use cases of our world-class battery and cell technology will manifest beyond electric mobility. Ola Shakti extends that innovation across every scale-from the home to the grid-helping India store and use clean energy intelligently.” This move aligns with India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030, addressing the projected need for hundreds of GWh of storage capacity.

Ola Electric has already secured an MoU with Axis Energy for the potential deployment of up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems by 2032 under the Mahashakti platform. The company highlights its Krishnagiri Gigafactory, indigenous LFP cell technology, and extensive distribution network as key competitive advantages.

Availability and Future Outlook

Shakti Gen2 reservations are immediately available, with deliveries commencing in November 2026. Shakti Rack, Mahashakti Rack, and Mahashakti container products are slated for launch in March 2027, with reservations opening soon.
