Ola Electric S1 X+ 5.2 kWh Scooter Receives Official Government Certification

Ola Electric has achieved a significant milestone with its mass-market S1 X+ 5.2 kWh electric scooter receiving government certification. Powered by the company’s indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell, this model now stands as the longest-range product in Ola’s mass-market portfolio. Designed to drive EV adoption beyond urban centers, the scooter offers a 320 km IDC range and a top speed of 125 km/h, combining high performance with increased affordability.

Advancing In-House Cell Technology

On May 8, 2026, Ola Electric announced that its S1 X+ (5.2 kWh) electric scooter has successfully passed the comprehensive validation processes required for certification. This approval marks a pivotal step in the company’s vertical integration strategy, as the scooter is powered by Ola’s proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack. This deployment underscores the company’s commitment to scaling its in-house battery technology across its mass-market portfolio.

Performance and Capability

The newly certified S1 X+ 5.2 kWh is engineered for long-distance utility, delivering an impressive 320 km IDC range. Equipped with an 11 kW mid-drive motor and an integrated MCU, the scooter achieves a top speed of 125 km/h. By leveraging the high energy density and thermal efficiency of the 4680 Bharat Cell, the vehicle is positioned to make long-range, everyday commuting accessible to a wider demographic across India.

Strategic Commitment to EV Adoption

The certification follows rigorous testing for constructional safety, functional performance, and range validation. By addressing the core barriers of range, performance, and price, Ola Electric intends for this model to serve as a practical solution for customers in semi-urban and rural areas. This rollout strengthens the company’s vertically integrated ecosystem, which encompasses cell research at its Battery Innovation Centre (BIC) and large-scale production at the Ola Futurefactory.
