Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Limited has received a warning from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for failing to comply with Expense of Management (EoM) limits for the financial year 2024-25. Consequently, the company has been directed to not open any new place of business for a period of six months from the order date of August 19, 2026. IRDAI Issues Warning for EoM Limit Non-Compliance
Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Limited announced that it has received a warning from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) regarding its compliance with Expense of Management (EoM) limits for the financial year 2024-25. The IRDAI issued an order on August 19, 2026, indicating that the company did not comply with the applicable EoM limits.
Six-Month Restriction on New Business Locations
In addition to the warning, the IRDAI has directed Niva Bupa Health Insurance to refrain from opening any new places of business for a period of six months from the date of the order. This measure is a direct consequence of the identified non-compliance with the EoM regulations. The company stated that it is currently evaluating the order and will take appropriate steps to safeguard stakeholder interests.
Statement on Ongoing Compliance
Despite the warning, Niva Bupa Health Insurance affirmed its compliance with the IRDAI (Expenses of Management, including Commission of Insurers) Regulations, 2024 (“EoM Regulations, 2024”) for the full Financial Year ended March 31, 2026, and for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026.
