Neuland Laboratories: Peptide Manufacturing Capacity Expands with New Module

Neuland Laboratories has commenced operations at its first commercial peptide manufacturing module, marking a significant expansion of its peptide API production capabilities. The new module offers a total reactor capacity of 7000L, including both solid-phase and liquid-phase synthesis, enabling flexible production from small-scale to multikilogram quantities. Further modules are planned, supported by a $30 million investment.

Commercial Peptide Manufacturing Module Operational

Neuland Laboratories Limited has announced the commencement of operations at its first commercial peptide manufacturing module, a key part of its broader peptide manufacturing expansion strategy. This development signifies a substantial increase in the company’s capacity to produce peptide Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).

Expanded Capacity and Capabilities

The newly operational module one is equipped with a total reactor capacity of 7000L, comprising 750L for solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and 6250L for liquid-phase peptide synthesis (LPPS). This configuration allows for flexible customer programs ranging from small-scale to multikilogram quantities, covering complex and long-chain peptides, as well as commercial-scale production of crude peptides. The module includes advanced equipment such as three DAC columns and two lyophilisers.

Strategic Investment and Future Growth

This expansion follows a significant $30 million investment in module one. Neuland is planning subsequent modules to meet growing customer demand, with module two projected to provide an overall reactor capacity of up to 18,000L. The company is also seeing a broadening of partner indications into oncology, alongside established areas like obesity and metabolic disease.

Market Position and CDMO Services

Neuland Laboratories, a specialist API CDMO partner, serves clients in over 80 countries with its three US FDA and EU GMP-compliant facilities in India. The company has a combined reactor capacity of approximately 1218kL. Revenues saw a substantial increase of 116% in the company’s most recent quarterly results, driven by increased commercial contracts and clinical projects, highlighting the strong demand for its outsourced development and commercial manufacturing services.
