Shri Chandra, currently the Additional Chief Secretary (Mines) for the Government of Maharashtra, is not related to any existing directors and meets all eligibility criteria for the role.

MOIL Limited has officially informed stakeholders about the appointment of Shri Lokesh Chandra, IAS, as a Government Nominee Director to its Board. This significant decision was made by the Government of India through an order dated August 6, 2026 (Order No. S-14011/1/2022-BLA).
Director’s Tenure and Qualifications
The tenure of Shri Lokesh Chandra’s appointment is set until March 6, 2027, with the possibility of extension based on further directives. Shri Chandra brings a wealth of experience, currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary (Mines) for the Government of Maharashtra. It has been confirmed that he has no familial relation with any current Director or Key Managerial Personnel of MOIL Limited. Furthermore, he is not subject to any disqualifications or debarments from holding a directorship by any regulatory authority.
About Shri Lokesh Chandra
Shri Lokesh Chandra is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the 1993 Batch. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and an M. Tech in Structures from IIT (Delhi). His extensive career includes serving as Additional Chief Secretary (Mines), Government of Maharashtra, and Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). Previously, he held key positions such as Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO and Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. He also served as Collector for Nagpur, Bhandara, and Gondia districts and as President of Nagpur Reform ‘Pranyas’. His experience also spans central government roles from 2008 to 2015, where he served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Steel and as Director in the Ministry of Power.
