LIC Reports Strong Q1 FY27 Financials
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has announced its financial results for the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027 (Q1 FY27), showcasing robust growth across key performance indicators. The company’s Total Premium Income witnessed a significant increase of 6.75%, reaching INR 1,27,250 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. This marks a notable improvement from the INR 1,19,200 crore recorded in the same period of the previous year (Q1 FY26).
Key Performance Highlights
Further bolstering its performance, LIC reported a 8.61% year-on-year growth in its Total Group Business Premium, which stood at INR 51,834 crore in Q1 FY27, up from INR 47,726 crore in Q1 FY26. The Individual New Business Premium also showed strong momentum, growing by 14.48% to INR 14,351 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to INR 12,536 crore in Q1 FY26.
The company maintained a strong market position, with its Market Share in Premium recorded at 60.10% for Q1 FY27, experiencing a slight decrease of 3.41% in absolute terms from 63.51% in Q1 FY26. Similarly, the Market Share in Policies was at 60.73% in Q1 FY27, down by 2.34% in absolute terms from 63.07% in Q1 FY26. These figures, however, still represent a dominant presence in the life insurance sector.
Business Performance Overview
The financial report also highlighted performance parameters for FY26. Total Premium Income for FY26 was INR 5,35,984 crore, a 9.80% increase from FY25. Individual New Business Premium grew by 8.29% to INR 67,676 crore in FY26. The Market Share in Premium for FY26 stood at 56.66%, with a marginal decrease of 0.39% in absolute terms. The Market Share in Policies was 65.16%, a decrease of 0.67% in absolute terms.
Furthermore, detailed financial statements for Q1 FY27 and FY26 have been presented, including standalone balance sheets and statements of profit and loss. These documents provide a comprehensive view of LIC’s financial health, covering aspects like reserves, investments, liabilities, and profitability. The Embedded Value (IEV) has also shown an upward trend, increasing by INR 12,309 crore from March 2025 to March 2026, a growth of 1.58%.
