Karnataka Bank Introduces Capital Gains Account Scheme

Karnataka Bank has officially launched the Capital Gains Account Scheme (CGAS), a new offering aimed at providing customers with a convenient and compliant banking solution for managing their capital gains. This scheme is specifically designed for taxpayers who have earned capital gains from the transfer of eligible capital assets but may require additional time to complete their planned reinvestments. By depositing eligible capital gains into a CGAS account within the stipulated timeframe, customers can benefit from applicable tax advantages, subject to adherence to the Income-tax Act and its regulations.

Scheme Details and Benefits

Under the CGAS, Karnataka Bank, as an authorized institution, allows customers to open two types of accounts: Capital Gains Account-A, which is a Savings Deposit Account offering flexibility in deposits and withdrawals, and Capital Gains Account-B, a Term Deposit Account suitable for longer-term parking of funds. This initiative aims to simplify the process for customers planning eligible reinvestments, such as those related to residential property purchase or construction, and other qualifying investments as permitted by tax laws.
