Karnataka Bank: Appoints Parthasarathi Periaswamy as Additional Director

Karnataka Bank Ltd. has appointed Shri. Parthasarathi Periaswamy as an Additional Director (Non-Executive, Independent) for a term of four years, effective July 29, 2026. Periaswamy brings over three decades of experience in the financial sector, particularly in technology and cybersecurity, having served at the Reserve Bank of India and IDRBT. His expertise is expected to bolster the bank’s digital initiatives and strengthen its cybersecurity framework.

Karnataka Bank Appoints New Independent Director

Karnataka Bank Ltd. announced on July 31, 2026, the appointment of Shri. Parthasarathi Periaswamy as an Additional Director (Non-Executive, Independent) to its Board. This appointment is for a period of four years and is effective from July 29, 2026. The appointment is subject to shareholder approval as per SEBI regulations.

Expertise in Technology and Cybersecurity

Mr. Periaswamy is a distinguished leader with over three decades of experience in India’s financial sector, specializing in technology and cybersecurity. He previously held significant roles such as Chief Information Security Officer and Chief General Manager (IT) at the Reserve Bank of India, where he played a key role in shaping national cybersecurity frameworks. He also served as Chief Technology Officer at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), directing IT infrastructure and national threat intelligence platforms.

Strengthening Digital Initiatives

His career also includes advisory roles for leading private sector banks on cybersecurity governance and policy, and serving as a Board Member of Indian Financial Technology and Allied Services (IFTAS). Karnataka Bank anticipates that Mr. Periaswamy’s extensive leadership experience in IT and cybersecurity will significantly enhance the bank’s digital transformation efforts and strengthen its overall digital capabilities.
