The Appellate Authority has allowed the company’s appeal, deleting the majority of the demanded customs duty, approximately INR 83.40 lakhs. Furthermore, interest and penalties initially imposed have also been removed. This order was received on November 26, 2025, providing substantial financial relief to the company.

Favorable Outcome in Customs Duty Appeal

Kalpataru Projects International Limited has received a positive ruling from the Appellate Authority regarding its appeal against a previous order from the Customs Authority. The initial order had demanded customs duty, along with interest and a penalty, relating to the classification of imported goods for the financial years 2016-17 to 2019-20.

Details of the Appeal Decision

The Hon’ble Appellate Authority has allowed the appeal, resulting in the deletion of the majority of the customs duty demand, which amounted to approximately INR 83.40 lakhs. The balance demand of approximately INR 1 lakh was remanded back to the Original Adjudicating Authority. Critically, the Appellate Authority also removed the interest and all penalties that had been imposed on the company. The order was officially received by the company on November 26, 2025.
