JSW Steel has announced a consolidated crude steel production of 21.18 lakh tonnes for the month of April 2026. Despite a temporary shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 at the Vijayanagar plant, production growth excluding the BF3 base impact recorded an increase of approximately 10%. This performance was largely driven by the successful full ramp-up of operations at the JVML facility.
Production Highlights
For the month of April 2026, JSW Steel reported a total consolidated production of 21.18 lakh tonnes. The break-up includes 20.40 lakh tonnes from Indian operations and 0.78 lakh tonnes from JSW Steel USA – Ohio. While overall production saw a marginal 1% YoY decline, the company noted that when excluding the base impact of the under-upgradation Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at Vijayanagar, the growth trajectory stood at approximately 10%.
Operational Efficiency and Capacity
The company is currently executing a strategic capacity upgrade at its Vijayanagar facility. Capacity utilisation in India remains robust, recorded at ~94% when excluding the BF3 capacity, and 83% inclusive of the furnace undergoing maintenance. The production increase in other areas reflects the full ramp-up of JVML operations, supporting the company’s growth targets.
Strategic Growth and Sustainability
JSW Steel continues to advance its expansion plans, aiming for a consolidated capacity of 48.9 MTPA over the next four years, building upon its current capacity of 35.7 MTPA. The company remains committed to its environmental roadmap, including a 42% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 and a pledge to achieve net-neutral carbon emissions by 2050. Its sustainability efforts are underscored by high global rankings in ESG performance and its strategic collaboration with JFE Steel of Japan to drive technological innovation in special steel products.
