JSW Infrastructure Limited has officially received permission to begin operations at Berth No. 7 and its associated Back Up Area at the Netaji Subhash Dock, located within the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata. This milestone follows the successful procurement of a Letter of Award and the signing of a Concession Agreement, marking a significant step in the company’s project to modernize port facilities on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.
Expanding Port Capabilities
JSW Kolkata Container Terminal Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Infrastructure Limited, has been granted the authority to commence operations at Berth No. 7. This development is part of a larger strategic initiative to upgrade infrastructure at the Netaji Subhash Dock (NSD) of the Kolkata Dock System. The commencement of operations follows an intensive project development phase that included the reconstruction of Berth No. 8 and the mechanization of both Berth Nos. 7 and 8.
Strategic Project Development
The project, which operates under the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) model through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, aims to enhance container handling efficiencies at the Kolkata port. After securing the Letter of Award in July 2025 and formalizing the Concession Agreement in September 2025, the project has reached this critical operational milestone as of May 2026. This development underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening India’s maritime logistics infrastructure.
