JSW Energy Limited has announced a significant milestone, crossing 15 GW of installed capacity. This achievement follows the commissioning of 1,572 MW since April 2026, bringing its total operational capacity to 15,025 MW. The company’s renewable energy portfolio now constitutes over 60% of its operational capacity, highlighting a strong shift towards green energy.

September 4, 2026 – JSW Energy Limited has announced it has surpassed the significant milestone of 15 GW in installed generation capacity. This landmark achievement comes after the successful commissioning of 1,572 MW of new capacity since April 2026. As a result, the company’s total operational capacity now stands at an impressive 15,025 MW.
Growth Driven by Renewables
The capacity added in the current fiscal year (FY27) includes 1,272 MW of renewable energy projects. This comprises 593 MW of solar, 108 MW of wind, 420 MW of hybrid, and 150 MW of hydro projects. Additionally, 300 MW of inorganic thermal capacity was also added.
Renewable energy now represents over 60% (9,067 MW) of JSW Energy’s operational portfolio. This diversified renewable capacity includes 3,125 MW of wind, 2,426 MW of solar, 1,735 MW of hybrid, and 1,781 MW of hydro power. The thermal power portfolio contributes 5,958 MW. The company is on track to meet its greenfield capacity addition target of 3 GW for FY2027, having already achieved approximately 42% of this goal.
Future Outlook and Storage Capacity
JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW, which includes 15.0 GW operational, 13.4 GW under construction, and a pipeline of 4.0 GW. The company is also expanding its energy storage capabilities, with a current locked-in energy storage capacity of 29.6 GWh, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage. This positions JSW Energy to provide firm, round-the-clock power supply.
Looking ahead, JSW Energy is targeting 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030, with a vision for carbon neutrality by 2050.
