In an order dated 19th August 2026, the Hon’ble Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) has dismissed MSEDCL’s appeal. The tribunal also rejected MSEDCL’s request for liberty to file a review petition before the Hon’ble Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC).

Background of the Litigation

This development follows earlier disclosures by JSW Energy concerning an appeal filed by MSEDCL. The appeal challenged an order passed by MERC on 24th December 2025. In that order, MERC had rejected MSEDCL’s petition to quash invoices raised by JSW Energy and had allowed JSW Energy’s petition.
