JK Tyre & Industries: Q1 FY27 Earnings Conference Call Transcript

JK Tyre & Industries Limited has made available the transcript of its Q1 FY27 Earnings Conference Call. The call, which took place on August 10, 2026, provided stakeholders with insights into the company’s performance during the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27.

Macroeconomic and Industry Overview

The call highlighted a resilient Indian economy with solid growth supported by strong domestic demand. Despite external uncertainties and higher input costs, the Indian auto industry experienced a consecutive quarter of record performance, with overall retail sales growth exceeding 15%. The company noted robust growth in various segments, including passenger vehicles (23%), commercial vehicles (14%), and two/three-wheelers (14%).

Company Performance Highlights

JK Tyre reported a consolidated turnover of Rs. 3,956 crore for Q1 FY27, a 2% year-on-year increase. Domestic sales volumes grew by 25% year-on-year. However, consolidated EBITDA was recorded at Rs. 268 crore, down from Rs. 424 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, leading to a decline in EBITDA margins to 6.8% from 10.9%.

The company addressed the impact of rising raw material prices, up by approximately 20% compared to Q4 FY26, and crude oil prices. Efforts to mitigate these effects include staggered selling price increases, product mix enrichment, and efficiency measures. Management expressed optimism for future margin improvements as commodity prices stabilize.

Operational and Strategic Initiatives

Key operational highlights included a 25% growth in domestic volumes, with OEM segment growth at 42%. The company is committed to expanding manufacturing capacities, with announced projects worth Rs. 4,980 crore for the PCR and TBR segments at the Chennai tyre plant. Strategic focus areas include leveraging premiumisation, EV-oriented portfolios, and enhancing digital and manufacturing excellence.

The company also touched upon its Mexico operations (JK Tornel), which were impacted by geopolitical disruptions and supply chain issues but are now returning to normal levels. Expansion plans for the next financial year include significant additions for TBR tyres and passenger car balancing, potentially increasing total installed capacities by around 7%.

Financials and Outlook

Consolidated net debt stood at Rs. 4,945 crore as of June 30, 2026. Management anticipates a double-digit revenue growth for the full year FY27, driven by price increases and demand-led volume growth. Operating margins for the whole year are expected to be in the range of 10% to 11%.
