Jindal Steel: Commissions India’s Largest Blast Furnace, Eyes 12 MTPA

Jindal Steel has commissioned one of India’s largest blast furnaces at its Angul facility, effectively doubling its hot metal capacity from 4 MTPA to 9 MTPA. This development positions Angul as the company’s primary hub and strengthens its commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat. The new Bhagavati Subhadrika Blast Furnace – II has a useful volume of 5,499 m² and establishes Angul as the largest single-location steel plant in India.

Angul Plant Expansion

Jindal Steel has significantly expanded its Angul, Odisha plant with the commissioning of a new, large-scale blast furnace. The addition of the Bhagavati Subhadrika Blast Furnace – II marks a substantial increase in production capacity and solidifies Angul’s role in the company’s future growth.

Doubling Production Capacity

The newly commissioned furnace doubles the hot metal production capacity at the Angul facility, increasing it from 4 MTPA to 9 MTPA. This expansion is a key component of Jindal Steel’s strategy to reach a total capacity of 12 MTPA at the Angul location.
