Jindal Stainless: Hisar Unit Receives Times Internet Ecopreneur Award for Sustainability

Jindal Stainless’ Hisar unit has been honored with the Times Internet Ecopreneur Award 2026 for Lifetime Achievement in Sustainability. This award highlights the company’s dedication to decarbonization, resource efficiency, and responsible manufacturing. The Hisar facility has seen improvements in renewable energy usage, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and waste management, earning a ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ Platinum+ rating.

Hisar Unit Recognized for Sustainability Excellence

Jindal Stainless’ Hisar unit has received the prestigious Times Internet Ecopreneur Award 2026 for Lifetime Achievement in Sustainability. This accolade recognizes the company’s sustained commitment to decarbonization, resource efficiency, and responsible manufacturing practices. The award ceremony was held recently at the Hyatt Regency in New Delhi.

Commitment to a Greener Ecosystem

The recognition underscores the Hisar unit’s ongoing efforts to develop a low-carbon, resource-efficient, and future-ready stainless steel manufacturing ecosystem. Over the years, Jindal Stainless has implemented numerous initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental footprint. These include significant investments in renewable energy, green hydrogen adoption, waste heat recovery systems, enhanced energy efficiency measures, circular economy principles, and responsible resource management.

Q1 FY27 Sustainability Performance

In the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 (Q1 FY27), the Hisar facility demonstrated notable progress in its sustainability performance. The share of renewable electricity in its power mix increased to 67%, a substantial rise from 58% in the same period last year. Furthermore, the unit achieved a 12% reduction in greenhouse gas emission intensity. Key energy-efficiency projects, such as the commissioning of an energy-efficient centrifugal compressor and waste heat recovery systems, were also completed. Demonstrating its commitment to circular economy, the facility was certified ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ with a Platinum+ rating for FY 2024-25.

The company also announced its registration with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), marking a significant step towards establishing science-based emissions reduction targets aligned with global climate goals.
