Indian Energy Exchange November ’25 Electricity Traded Volume Up 17.7% YOY

Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) reported an electricity traded volume of 11,409 MU in November ’25, a 17.7% year-over-year increase. Real-Time Market (RTM) volume rose by 40.2% YOY to 4,233 MU. The average Day Ahead Market (DAM) price was Rs 3.07/unit, and the average RTM price stood at Rs 3.14/unit, lower by 6.9% and 9.2% YoY, respectively. A total of 4.74 lakh Renewable Energy Certificates were traded.

Strong Electricity Trading Volume

The Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) achieved a monthly electricity traded volume (excluding TRAS) of 11,409 MU in November ’25, representing a 17.7% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, 4.74 lakh Renewable Energy Certificates were traded during the month.

Real-Time Market Growth

The Real-Time Electricity Market (RTM) volume demonstrated significant growth, increasing to 4,233 MU in November ’25 from 3,019 MU in November ’24. This reflects a substantial increase of 40.2% YoY.

Electricity Prices

The average price in the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) for November ’25 was Rs. 3.07/unit, which is 6.9% lower year-over-year. Similarly, the average price in the Real-Time Market (RTM) was Rs 3.14/unit, representing a 9.2% decrease YoY.

Green Market Performance

The IEX Green Market, encompassing the Green Day-Ahead and Green Term-Ahead Market segments, achieved a volume of 815 MU during November ’25, compared to 818 MU in November ’24, a slight decrease of 0.3% YoY. The weighted average price in the Green Day-Ahead Market (G-DAM) for November ’25 was Rs 3.29/ unit.

Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) Market

A total of 4.74 lakh RECs were traded in the sessions held on 12th November ’25 and 26th November ’25, at clearing prices of Rs.370/REC and Rs. 364/REC, respectively. REC traded volume in November ’25 decreased by 13.1% on a YoY basis.
