Hindustan Zinc launches two new value-added zinc alloys for galvanizing industry

Hindustan Zinc Limited has launched two new advanced zinc alloy products, VedAZ and VedAyush, targeting the galvanizing industry. These next-generation alloys are designed to enhance process efficiency, improve coating consistency, and provide superior long-term corrosion protection for galvanized steel. The launch aims to address evolving industry requirements and support India’s infrastructure and manufacturing sectors, expanding the company’s value-added product offerings.

Hindustan Zinc Expands Product Portfolio with Advanced Zinc Alloys

Hindustan Zinc Limited has announced the launch of two innovative, value-added zinc products: VedAZ and VedAyush. These next-generation zinc alloys are specifically engineered for the galvanizing industry, promising enhanced process efficiency and consistent coating quality for galvanized steel products.

New Products Aim to Boost Efficiency and Durability

The newly launched alloys are developed to meet the diverse and evolving requirements of the galvanizing value chain. VedAZ is a specialized zinc-aluminium master alloy designed to improve precision, consistency, and efficiency in coating processes by enabling better control of aluminium levels in galvanizing baths. This supports stable bath chemistry, uniform coating thickness, and a superior surface finish, while also reducing dross formation and zinc losses.

VedAyush, a specialized zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy, is engineered to provide enhanced corrosion protection, durability, and coating performance in challenging industrial environments. The addition of magnesium is intended to significantly improve corrosion resistance, coating adhesion, and surface stability, particularly for applications exposed to high humidity and coastal conditions. These alloys are expected to find extensive use across infrastructure, automotive, consumer appliances, and power transmission sectors.

Strategic Move to Capture Growing Market Demand

The introduction of VedAZ and VedAyush is a strategic move by Hindustan Zinc to strengthen its position in the value-added zinc market. The company sees significant potential to grow its value-added zinc business by offering specialized grades tailored to customer manufacturing processes and performance needs. This expansion aims to build closer customer relationships and capture more value from its zinc production.

The launch comes at a critical time, with corrosion management gaining importance for safeguarding industrial assets and public infrastructure. According to a 2026 CII-Nomura Research Institute report, corrosion-related losses in India are estimated at approximately 4.3% of the country’s GDP annually, highlighting the demand for effective corrosion protection solutions.

Expanded Alloy Capabilities

Hindustan Zinc operates a 30,000-tonne-per-annum zinc alloy melting and casting facility through its subsidiary, Hindustan Zinc Alloys Private Limited (HZAPL). This facility strengthens the domestic availability of application-specific zinc alloys and supports a more resilient manufacturing supply chain. The company’s existing specialized alloy portfolio includes die-casting grades like HZDA-3 and HZDA-5, which cater to precision components in various industries.

Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

The launch of VedAZ and VedAyush marks another step in Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to building a diversified portfolio of specialized zinc products. By collaborating with galvanizers and downstream industries, the company aims to support India’s growing infrastructure and manufacturing needs with solutions tailored to real application requirements.
