Hindalco Achieves Record Financial Performance in Q2 FY27
Hindalco Industries Limited, the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, has posted its strongest-ever quarterly performance for the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2027 (Q2 FY27), ending September 30, 2026. The company reported record consolidated revenue and achieved an all-time high quarterly consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT), underscoring a robust growth trajectory across its business segments.
Key Financial Highlights
Consolidated Revenue from Operations for Q2 FY27 surged to ₹91,708 crore, marking a significant 39% increase compared to the same period last year (Q2 FY26). Consolidated EBITDA also saw substantial growth, rising by 42% year-on-year to reach ₹13,757 crore. The company’s Profit After Tax (PAT) for the quarter hit a record ₹7,533 crore, reflecting a remarkable 59% jump from Q2 FY26.
Drivers of Growth
The stellar performance was underpinned by the strength of Hindalco’s integrated business model, with solid contributions from its primary upstream business and strong performance in its downstream operations. The Copper business recorded its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA, while Novelis demonstrated sustained improved performance, partly due to the normalization of its Oswego operations. The non-LME-linked businesses, comprising Novelis, Copper, and Aluminium Downstream, collectively contributed nearly 50% to the company’s earnings, showcasing resilience against LME volatility and global macroeconomic challenges.
Mr. Satish Pai, Managing Director of Hindalco Industries, commented, “Hindalco delivered its strongest-ever quarterly performance, with Revenue and PAT surpassing their previous highs. Our long-term strategy of building an integrated business model across upstream metals and downstream value-added products is translating into a stronger and more resilient earnings profile.” He further highlighted the 55% EBITDA growth in the Aluminium Upstream business and nearly 50% growth in non-LME-linked businesses.
Segmental Performance
Novelis reported revenue of $5.9 billion, up 25%, driven by higher metal prices, and Adjusted EBITDA of $508 million, up 20%. The Oswego hot mill production returned to normal levels.
In Aluminium (India), the Upstream segment saw revenue grow by 33% to ₹13,364 crore and EBITDA increase by 55% to ₹7,009 crore. The Downstream segment achieved an all-time high quarterly EBITDA of ₹329 crore, up 26%.
The Copper (India) business reported revenue of ₹21,374 crore, up 47%, on account of high metal prices. EBITDA recorded a significant 164% increase to ₹1,673 crore, backed by strong operational performance.
Sustainability Initiatives
Hindalco continues to advance its sustainability agenda. The company operationalized a 65 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project at Aditya Aluminium and commissioned an additional 173 MW of renewable energy capacity. Waste utilization stood at 62% in Q2 FY27, and efforts in water conservation and tree plantation are ongoing.
