Godawari Power & Ispat Commissions 25 MWp Captive Solar Power Plant

Godawari Power & Ispat has successfully commissioned its 25 MWp Captive Solar Power Plant located in Chawardhal, Chhattisgarh. Operational as of May 19, 2026, the facility is now fully synchronized with the power grid. This project is set to supply sustainable energy to the company’s Ari Dongri and Boria Tibu Iron Ore mines, significantly reducing reliance on high-cost state grid power while bolstering the company’s ongoing green energy and carbon reduction initiatives.

Boosting Sustainable Mining Operations

Godawari Power & Ispat Limited has marked a major milestone in its sustainability journey with the commencement of operations at its 25 MWp Captive Solar Power Plant. Strategically located in Chawardhal, Chhattisgarh, the plant was officially synchronized with the grid on May 19, 2026. This development underscores the company’s commitment to integrating renewable energy solutions directly into its heavy industrial mining operations.

Strategic Benefits and Carbon Reduction

The energy generated by this new facility will be dedicated to the power requirements of the Ari Dongri Iron Ore Mines and the Boria Tibu Iron Ore mines. By shifting these operations toward self-generated solar energy, the company expects to achieve several key strategic advantages:

  • Cost Efficiency: The project will replace the high-cost power currently purchased from state distribution companies (Discoms), optimizing overall operational expenses.
  • Environmental Impact: The transition to solar power is a core component of the company’s broader green initiatives, aimed at significantly lowering its industrial carbon footprint.
  • Operational Autonomy: Captive consumption ensures a more stable and reliable power supply for critical mining activities.
