Global Health Limited, operating under the Medanta brand, has announced the strategic acquisition of an 80-bed cancer hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Valued at Rs. 30 crores, the takeover will be executed via a Business Transfer Agreement. This expansion integrates a comprehensive oncology program into Medanta’s existing local infrastructure, aiming to enhance patient access and drive operational synergies in the region.
Strategic Expansion in Central India
On April 27, 2026, Global Health Limited confirmed its plan to acquire a newly-built cancer hospital located in Indore. This facility, positioned just 500 meters away from Medanta’s current 175-bedded multi-specialty hospital, serves as a vital extension to the company’s existing footprint in Central India.
Transaction Details and Operational Impact
Under the terms of the Business Transfer Agreement (BTA), Medanta will acquire the Indore Business Undertaking from the Asian Institute of Oncology Private Limited for a total consideration of Rs. 30 crores. This includes the assumption of the facility’s long-term lease. By integrating this specialized oncology unit, Medanta intends to launch a comprehensive cancer care program that was previously unavailable at its existing site, optimizing both capacity utilization and patient flow.
Leadership Perspective
Mr. Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO of Medanta, emphasized that this acquisition aligns with the company’s commitment to delivering advanced, patient-centric healthcare. The state-of-the-art infrastructure will allow the healthcare provider to broaden its range of services, effectively strengthening its position as a leading provider of high-quality specialized care within the region.
